In an increasingly crowded skincare market dominated by international giants, 9Skin is making its mark by offering premium, paraben-free products tailored to diverse skin types. Daisy Morgan, the entrepreneur behind this Singapore-based D2C brand, recognized the lack of skincare solutions specifically designed for Indian and Asian skin, leading her to launch 9Skin in collaboration with actress Nayanthara and director Vignesh Shivan. Launched in September 2023, 9Skin aims to bridge the gap by providing products that blend natural ingredients with cutting-edge technology.

From Skincare Woes to Entrepreneurial Success

Daisy Morgan’s personal struggle with acne and pigmentation prompted her to explore solutions that catered to Indian skin. Finding few options in the market, she began researching ingredients that would address these issues. This research laid the foundation for 9Skin, a brand she developed alongside Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan. Their combined efforts resulted in a product line launched in Malaysia, with manufacturing rooted in India.

Having previously ventured into the nightclub business in Singapore and running spas across India, Morgan’s entrepreneurial journey has been filled with challenges. Her experience also extended to curating whitening creams and acne lotions through her company, Daisy Morgan International, before 9Skin was born. With their shared passion for the project, the trio launched 9Skin, drawing from Morgan’s experience in breaking into international markets and building meaningful partnerships.

Innovative Products with a Personal Touch

9Skin’s product range currently includes five core offerings: day cream, night cream, booster oil, anti-aging serum, and glow serum. These formulations incorporate natural ingredients like sea buckthorn and leverage nanotechnology to ensure deep penetration beyond the skin’s outer layer. Morgan proudly states that many of these ingredients are sourced from regions like Indonesia, with intricate processing involved, making 9Skin’s formulations unique.

The brand’s focus on quality and accessibility extends to its pricing, with products ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000, catering to customers across India, Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Canada. To meet growing demand, the team has set up additional manufacturing in Malaysia. With plans to further expand their reach, 9Skin aims to soon be available in the UK as well.

Future Expansion and Dedication to the Brand

Looking ahead, 9Skin plans to expand into more international markets, with a target of entering 10 countries within its first year. The brand’s founders, including Nayanthara, who plays an active role in packaging design and product discussions, are deeply involved in the brand’s growth. The brand is also preparing for a significant store launch in collaboration with Tira Beauty in Chennai.

Despite the challenges of being a woman entrepreneur in a male-dominated industry, Morgan continues to move forward, balancing her roles as a mother and businesswoman. She encourages women entrepreneurs to believe in their abilities and pursue their passions fearlessly. With personal investment from the co-founders, 9Skin is poised for continued growth as it expands its presence in the global skincare market.
